Writerly Life

What’s it like to be a writer? Where do you get ideas? How do you turn ideas into texts that readers want to read? Peek inside Julie’s writing notebooks and discover what it’s like to live a writerly life. You’ll practice some of Julie’s strategies as you think about forging a writerly life of your own.

Sitting Still Like a Poet

Each of us is surrounded by tens, hundreds, maybe even thousands of stories every day. But most of us don’t notice, because our minds are busy with an equal number of distractions.

Julie will help you quiet your minds and pay attention to the “story worthy” material around you by weaving mindfulness practice with writing strategies. Learn how to look closely, visualize, and record your observations.
